Kopila's Homestay, Kathmandu Nepal
Homestay has always been primary accommodation for touring around the Himalayan country of Nepal. In the history of over 50 years, families in the remote villages have upgraded their facilities, meals and hygiene without changing its charm. Each season thousands of tourists trek to the remote corners of Annapurna and Everest staying in village homestay accommodation.
In 2001, TRPAP (Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program) was lunched under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) with the technical and financial assistance from United Nations Development Program (UNDP)/Nepal, Department for International Development (DFID)/ Nepal and SNV/Nepal. TRPAP project also introduced new scenic Himalayan routes based on homestay to support local ethnic groups.
In the pretext of ‘Nepal Tourism Year 2011’, Nepal government encouraged locals to register private and community homestay, trained and monitored them to provide supplementary accommodation.
Kopila's Homestay is one of the government registered, eco home in the center of Kathmandu.

Rabi, Kopila, and Anna were my wonderful hosts for my vacation in Nepal. I am a 59 year old female English teacher who traveled to Nepal alone. Due to my schedule, I stayed with the family off and on over 3 weeks. It is a 15 minute walk to Thamel from their home in Nara Bazaar. I never felt afraid or threatened. (traffic all over Nepal is very interesting) Rabi is a very experienced tour guide who has knowledge of many aspects of Nepalese life---cities, culture, wildlife, terrain, relegions, food, and festivals. He did not pressure me in any way to hire his services. But if you want to do something he is VERY helpful. I trusted him completely and his English is superb! Kopila is Rabi's wife who is a teacher at a local Montessori School. She is very sweet and is a wonderful cook! If you want clothes made she is very helpful to find good prices for material and very inexpensive places to have clothes made. Anna is there 4 year old daughter who is ALWAYS smiling and loves to play Crazy Eights. I recommend staying here for anyone who wants to stay in a real Nepalese family setting. My experience with the family was 5-stars. There are a definite 5-star family!

We are pleased to recommend Kopila's Homestay and iTourNepal.com P ltd. for all Nepal travel needs."Rabi" responded promptly to our questions so planning a 21-day tour was easy. His home stay offered a private one-bedroom one-bath floor. He does only one home stay at once unlike many others who have many people at once. Breakfast and dinner were included where you ate with him, his wife and daughter. Pickup, transportation to other cities, meals there, tours and any other needs were taken care of promptly. Costs were spelled out in advance. At other cities as Pokhara and the Citwan National Forrest he was well known and extra attention was given to us. Travels can include tours of Tibet, Bhutan and even a private driving craft tour of various remote cities in Nepal. Treks can be arranged. In short, every need you could ever have will be handled by Rabi.
